What is East Bay Hackers?

Hackathons can often feel inaccessible — high registration fees, restrictive requirements, and environments designed for those who already have access to resources and experience.

At East Bay Hackers, we believe innovation should be accessible to everyone.

Our mission is simple: to deliver a high-quality, professionally organized hackathon experience — completely free of charge. We are especially committed to empowering high school students in underrepresented Bay Area communities with the opportunity to build, compete, and create.

No registration fees. No hidden costs. Participants receive curated workshops, hands-on mentorship from industry professionals, and meals throughout the event so they can stay focused on building impactful projects.

Accessible. Inclusive. Purpose-driven.

As we prepare for our third hackathon, we are raising the standard — expanding our impact and creating even greater opportunities for the next generation of Bay Area innovators.

The Hackathon

The hackathon is a fast paced, hands on technology event where students collaborate to build a project from scratch within a single day. Teams brainstorm ideas, develop a working prototype, and refine their solution around a central theme or real world challenge.

Structured workshops introduce technical skills and tools, while mentors provide guidance throughout the process. Breakfast and lunch are provided to keep participants energized and connected. The event concludes with project presentations and judging, highlighting creativity, teamwork, and innovation.

FAQ

Q:

What makes this different from other hackathons?

A:

This is not simply a coding competition. It is a high energy, full day build sprint designed specifically for high school students who want to ship a real product. With hands on mentorship, professional grade resources, and an environment that feels closer to a startup than a classroom, the focus is on execution, creativity, and impact.
