Team Formation

Teams must have 2-4 members maximum
All team members must be high school students
Teams can be formed before or during the event
Solo participants are welcome
Team changes are not permitted after the hackathon begins

Judging

All projects should be submitted by the appropriate time. Projects with physical components should submit their physical parts to an organizer.
Teams will be judged on the following rubrics: Functionality, Presentation, Concept, Relevance, and Scalability.
Be respectful of all judging decisions. They’re people too.
This is a place of learning. If any form of harassment or discrimination occurs, you will be escorted off the premises and disqualified.
Be respectful of your peers. We’re all grown.
The violation of any of these rules will disqualify you from the hackathon, and may or may not result in your removal from the premises.

Does the actual product work? Does it function as advertised? Are there any noticeable glitches/bugs/non-working functionality?

Presentation

How professional was the presentation? How clearly and engagingly did the team present their idea? Did they effectively demonstrate how their project is related to the theme?

Concept

How original is the idea? Does it show a creative approach to fulfilling the prompt?

04 / 05

Relevance

How well does the project align with the theme?

05 / 05

Scalability

Does the project make a real-world impact in the appropriate industries? Could it scale to reach more people or have a greater impact?

Treat everyone with respect and kindness. We are all here to learn, build, and grow together. Be supportive of your fellow participants.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment

This includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments, slurs, intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. If you see or experience this, report it immediately.

Safe & Inclusive Space

We welcome participants of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. Discrimination based on age, gender, identity, orientation, disability, appearance, race, ethnicity, or religion will not be tolerated.

Reporting Mechanism

If you witness or experience any violations of this code of conduct, please report it immediately to an organizer. All reports will be handled confidentially and taken seriously.

Consequences

Violations of this code of conduct may result in consequences up to and including expulsion from the event and a ban from future East Bay Hackers events.
